In Her Shoes

Just finished watching ‘In Her Shoes’ movie shown in Astro, the Malaysian cable tv, starring Cameron Diaz, Toni Collette and Shirley MacLaine. The 2005 movie is about a love hate relationship of sisters, Rose and Maggie, who have opposite characters. Maybe due to the fact that every one of my family members have gone to bed and I can concentrate watching it, the movie really has deep impacts on me.

The movie also shows that how a grand mother with the help of her senior friends has changed her long-time-no-see troublesome grand daughter into a good and nice young girl. The girls and their grand mother have to get to know each other again.

Another great thing about the movie is the poem of EE Cummings entitled ‘I Carry Your Heart With Me’ that really has impressed me a lot. The poem tells about the real meaning of true love.

The translation of the poem in Malay is as the following :

Kubawa hatimu bersama diriku

aku bawa hatimu bersamaku (kubawa ia di dalam hatiku)

ku pergi kau jua pergi, sayangku; apa jua yang kulakukan
adalah apa jua yang kau lakukan, intanku)

tiada takdir (kerana kau adalah takdirku, permataku) aku

dan kau adalah umpama bulan dan kau adalah bagai matahari yang bernyanyi
